Enamel map created through a series of school and community workshops.
The heritage trail map was created through a series of school and community workshops as part of the Welbourn Heritage Trail project for the National Centre for Craft and Design and Welbourn Parish Council.
It was a great unveiling event with tea and cakes supplied by the village hall committee and a fantastic workshop organised by NCCD.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this project including Justin Sawkins for producing the map on behalf of NCCD.
This project was a real community effort, that produced a wonderful result and we really enjoyed being part of it!
We are really excited that the map looks fab in it’s new home.
The map was made up from a mixture of prints from school and community workshops.
We had a lovely day at Welbourn Primary school. Pupils drew pictures using reference photos of buildings on the village trail. They used easy print polystyrene sheets to transfer and finally print their drawings. The children produced some wonderful prints using this process.
Community workshops held at the village hall with Lucy Lumb and Harriet Brand from NCCD. We had two sessions booked over two Saturdays both were booked out! Using the same process as the schools workshops but this time we used lino as well the press print. Again some great results were achieved.
